13th MULTI-POLLUTANT EMISSIONS FROM COAL WORKSHOP, 21-23 MAY 2018, KRAKOW, POLAND
CALL FOR ABSTRACTS OPEN! Please submit your abstract by 25 January 2018 to email@example.com.
MEC13, the 13th Workshop on Multi-pollutant Emissions from Coal, will be held in Krakow, Poland, on the 21-23 May 2018, in the Radisson Blu Hotel, right in the heart of the old town.
This workshop pulls together international experts on reducing emissions, including particulates, SO2, NOx and mercury, from coal-fired utilities and offers an excellent opportunity to mix with government agencies, regulators, utilities, consultants, equipment suppliers and academia. With the Minamata Convention moving into ratification and new, tighter, emission limits being required within the EU soon, there is no better time to be speaking to colleagues in the industry in Europe.
Cost for registration for the full event, including breaks, lunches and gala dinner, is €495. There is no discount for speakers – this event is run at cost and any profit made will be used to facilitate the attendance of UN Coal Partnership delegates from emerging economies.
Topics to be addressed:
- Meeting tightening emission standards
- State of the art emission control
- Monitoring emissions at low concentrations
- HELE (high efficiency low emission) technology uptake in Europe
- Technology transfer to emerging economies
There will be a gala dinner on Monday 21 May at a local venue in Krakow to which all delegates are invited.
There will be a site visit to a local coal-fired power plant on the afternoon of Wednesday 23rd May. The number of delegates which can be accommodated on site is limited to 25 – there will be a fee of £40 payable to cover transfer costs. The sign-up list for the site visit will open to paid-up delegates nearer the time.
We invite you to submit your abstract by 25 January 2018 to firstname.lastname@example.org and encourage you to distribute this announcement to interested colleagues and associates.
Sponsorship/exhibition packages are available – please email email@example.com for more information.
The conference is being held in the fabulous Radisson Blu Hotel, only minutes from Krakow Castle and the old town square. https://www.radissonblu.com/en/hotel-krakow

Mercury and multi-pollutant emissions from coal workshop (MEC12) was held in the fantastic Kruger Gate Hotel, Mpumalanga, South Africa from 28 February - 3 March 2017. The event combined a one-day workshop on Energy Efficiency and Emission Challenges for South African and neighbouring African regions (co-hosted by the US State Department) with the three-day 12th annual Mercury Emissions from Coal workshop, co-hosted by UNEP, DEAT and Eskom, which encompasses a more multi-pollutant ethos. Both meetings considered emissions of all micro-pollutants to air, not just mercury.
The Mercury Emissions from Coal (MEC) workshop is an annual IEA Clean Coal Centre event. Papers from previous workshops can be downloaded from the links below.
11th IEA CCC Workshop on Mercury emissions from coal took place on 17-20 November 2015 in Chennai, India. Visit the workshop website
10th Mercury Emissions from Coal Workshop, MEC10, took place on 22-25 April 2014 at the Sand Key Sheraton Hotel, Clearwater, Florida, USA. Read the blog.
